Title: Rode Streamlines Its A/V Console Into More Affordable RodeCaster Video S
Rode has introduced the RodeCaster Video S, a smaller and less expensive version of its all-in-one video and audio production console. The company says the new model retains the processing power and performance of the earlier $1,299 unit while fitting into a more compact, portable form factor.
The Video S is aimed at creators who need a simpler, travel-friendly setup. It supports switching between up to four video sources and managing five customizable scenes. The unit includes three full HD (1080p) HDMI inputs with auto frame rate conversion and one configurable HDMI output for program, preview, or multi-view. A USB-C port is provided for webcams or other audio devices.
On the audio side, the console has two Neutrik combo jacks equipped with ultra-low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamps and dual internal wireless receivers for connecting Rode Series IV wireless microphones. It also supports PTZ network cameras and can handle up to four NDI inputs and one NDI output over Ethernet.
The system is driven by a high-performance octa-core CPU for video and audio processing. It features a two-inch high-resolution touchscreen and a rotary encoder, and can create five complex scenes made up of multiple video layers, media, and graphics that can be saved and triggered with a single button. The Video S also offers automatic chroma keying and intelligent auto-switching of sources and scenes based on audio activity.
For distribution and recording, the device can stream directly to platforms such as YouTube and Twitch via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB. It can also record to an external USB drive or SSD, with the option to capture each video and audio source independently for more flexible post-production.
The RodeCaster Video S is available to order now, priced at $499.
