Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 has a focal length of 50 mm, making it a perfect companion for everyday shootings. In terms of technicalities, it has seven elements and eight blades. The minimum focus distance is 17.8 inches.

The lens comes with an f/1.4 maximum aperture, which provides precise imaging in low light situations and produces beautiful bokeh effects.

Thanks to its large aperture, the lens has a superior peripheral brightness even when used at f/1.4. Two high-refraction lens elements and new Gaussian optics eliminate astigmatism and suppress astigmatic difference.

All of the images I got with this prime lens were crystal-clear in terms of sharpness while simultaneously providing an excellent bokeh effect.

The f/1.4 setting takes beautiful photos, but it’s prohibitive due to the field’s too shallow depth. It also has a tiny lens and color distortion compared to the lenses that came with my camera.

When discussing physical aspects, it is essential to note that this lens took severe beatings while I was testing it. It is durable and won’t let you down if you have to take it to dusty or wet areas.

Pros

  • Superior bokeh effect
  • Extremely sharp images
  • Fast autofocusing

Cons

  • Not weather resistant

The L-series lenses are impressive at all times. Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L  is an ultra-wide zoom lens with an 11 mm starting focal length. The maximum aperture is an f/4, while the closest focus distance is set at 11 inches. The new optical design and the use of one Super UD element and one UD lens element.

What I particularly like is the full-time manual times that allows manual focus adjustments while in auto-focus mode. The lens is fantastic for cityscape, landscape, creative perspectives. It is an excellent lens for photographing architecture.

I managed to pull out outstanding interior images edge-to-edge, all while preserving the sharpness. Color rendering is of superior quality.

Although the f/4 aperture can be limiting in certain conditions, this lens didn’t disappoint me while taking pictures in low-light situations.

It’s quite heavy, but this didn’t pose much of a challenge. Probably the most significant complicating factor is the big front-facing element, which gathers water droplets and snowflakes quite rapidly.

The general exterior design is excellent. It is a high-quality wide-angle lens for Canon 1D X Mark II with superior materials used in the making process.

Pros

  • Edge-to-edge sharpness
  • Great color rendering
  • High-quality lens

Cons

  • Quite heavy

I took pictures of various landscapes at different day times, and I was surprised by the image quality. Color rendering and contrasts are excellent, and in terms of responsiveness, this lens outperformed many primes.

It also delivers prime-like results when just looking at the image quality.

It shows excellent corner to corner sharpness while being fast, accurate, and precise in AI servo mode. If you can afford this gem, you should go for it.

Best Telephoto Lens For Wildlife Photography

Best Telephoto
Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L Lens

$1,729.95 $1,629.99

The lens is exceptionally resistant to dust and water. Images are razor-sharp and the maximum aperture is enough for shooting under low-light conditions.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L is a high-performance L-series super-telephoto zoom that is the perfect choice for sports and wildlife photography.

It has a rotating zoom ring that provides a more precise composition and excellent balance when handholding. The closest focusing distance is 0,98 m. The lens’s air sphere coating significantly reduces flare and ghosting.

The lens is exceptionally resistant to dust and water and makes it an excellent choice for adventurous photographers that spend a lot of time in nature. Images are razor-sharp, even wide open, and the maximum aperture is enough for shooting under low-light conditions.

The camera wants to hunt a bit more than I would like. I set the lens auto-focus to 3 m to infinity, which helps but doesn’t eliminate the problem. And that is probably the only thing I do not like about this telephoto lens.

EF 100-400 mm is excellent at four stops. I’ve taken shots with a single room light bulb, handheld, at 1/10 seconds, and images were as sharp as expected. Last but not least, the build of the lens is excellent.

From the look on the exterior, you can see the lens is made to be taken to harsh weather areas. It will deliver good results both in the rain and in the dust.

Pros

  • Dust and water resistant
  • Sharp images
  • Excellent build quality

Cons

  • Hunting is possible sometimes

Best Macro Lens For Macro Photography

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Lens

Image quality from this lens is phenomenal. You will meet very sharp images with wonderfully creamy bokeh produced by its 15 elements.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L is constructed with 15 elements in 12 groups with the inner focus system with USM and full-time manual focus option. The closest focusing distance is 0,99 feet, while the maximum magnification is 1x.

The Canon’s first mid-telephoto macro “L” series lens includes Canon’s sophisticated Image Stabilization. For both portrait and macro, this lens is super sharp.

When I want to shoot macro, I like to use manual focus under live view to get precise control. What amazed me is that with the image stabilizer on or off, the image quality is absolutely the same and equally sharp while on a tripod.

Since this is a prime lens, the zoom ring is not present, just a focusing ring, which is nice and wide and has a very smooth motion.

This lens allows you to stop down to f/2.8, with a beautifully creamy bokeh and a very narrow depth of field. You can also go up the scale to enable more of your shot to get in focus.

Image quality from this lens is phenomenal. You will meet very sharp images with wonderfully creamy bokeh produced by its 15 elements.

This macro lens creates the best bokeh I have seen in the macro lens, so you should know you will probably want to use it as a portrait lens.

Pros

  • Perfect images
  • Weather-sealed
  • Excellent build quality

Cons

  • A bit on a heavy side
