Olympus 45mm f/1.2 has a Z Nano coating for extra-low reflection. In terms of ergonomics, the lens has an easy access custom function button, so if you are tech-savvy and you love to experiment with controls, you will like this feature.

The lens body is constructed to be weatherproof, and it can withstand dust and extreme colds. I prefer the manual focus clutch this lens has.

It also has a high-speed MSC focusing system that ensures fast and silent focus capabilities. Since the maximum aperture operates at f/1.2, you can be assured you will get stunning images under every lighting condition while also changing into the elements.

The quick auto and manual focusing clutch on the lens makes switching easy, and you can achieve accurate focus quickly through auto and manual focusing.

The minimum close distance is a bit too far my taste, but it is quite decent, considering this lens is a prime one. I am most impressed with the quality of the build, even little things like a barrel.

The focusing button is placed where a finger would be, and the grip on the barrel to facilitate getting the lens on and off fits correctly.

  • Weatherproof construction
  • Fast focus
  • Great low-light performance

Best Wide-Angle Lens for Landscape Photography

Best Wide-Angle
Panasonic 7-14mm f/4.0 Lens
$897.99 $797.99

Panasonic Lumix G 7-14mm f/4 is a compact lens that serves two main purposes: shooting wide angles and being a lightweight companion.

Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 has an equivalent focal length on Micro Four Third cameras with f/4 constant aperture. The lens offers a camera stabilization via camera body, so this feature depends on the camera you have.

The minimum focusing distance is 9.84 inches. One of the first things I have noticed with this lens is a slight chromatic aberration and edge-to-edge softness. Fortunately, it is an easy fix in Olympus Pen F or Lightroom.

The purple flaring is very definitely an issue, though. If I have a light source in my frame, the shot is blown-up. But other than that, images are razor-sharp, and they are focused quite nicely.

Because of the wide-angle, it is sometimes difficult not to have some sun bleed in if you face the sun in any way. Because there is no filter, you have to be careful with dust as well, and because there is no filter, I feel I need to carry the lens cap, which is massive.

I adore the micro four third function that allows me to print images in high quality. In terms of sharpness, this Panasonic lens is very sharp from wide open throughout the zoom range.

Stop it down to f/5.6, and you can pretty much leave it there. Just try to focus on the hyperfocal point, and you will have crisp images with everything in focus and minimal corner-shading.

  • Picture quality
  • Decent low-light performance
  • Sleek design

  • Flare issues in broad daylight

Having an f/1.4 aperture on an all-around lens is what many would consider luxury. Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 provides an ultimate quality in optical performance. All high-end lenses have a nano surface coating supplied by Panasonic, eliminating unwanted ghosting and flare issues.

The lens comes with a 46 mm thread mount for polarizer and other options lens filters. I have concluded this is a fantastic lens that achieves a tremendous field depth with ease during the testing.

The build quality is excellent; it is plastic but does not feel cheap or flimsy. When we consider sharpness, it is wise to say that all of the images shot with this lens are impressive and tack-sharp, even at the maximum opening.

The f/1.4 aperture is excellent and works fine in low-light situations, so it is easy to use this lens for urban night photo sessions.

The 25 mm can sometimes be limiting, especially in confined spaces, and the lens is considerably larger if you compare to it other lenses in the prime category.

However, it is an affordable and impressive lens, and the quality of the materials is high, even though there is a lot of plastic.

  • Outstanding picture rendering
  • Stellar low-light performance
  • Sharp details

  • Made from plastic

Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 has Panasonic’s optical image stabilization system with enhanced Lumix Dual image stabilization. Its durable metal body can withstand different harsh weather conditions, including splashes, dust, and extreme frosts.

The nano-coating is from X-series with two ED and one USD element. Considering this is a telephoto lens with a fantastic f/2.8 aperture, it is relatively compact.

There were times in the test phase when I wished the focal length was a little longer. If I am outdoors, capturing photos and videos of wildlife, but for the most part, it’s a perfect focal length for most of the zoom needs.

If you pair this lens with Olympus E-M5 II, you will capture shockingly still footage even at 100mm handheld.

The lens can also achieve an extraordinary shallow depth of field and a beautiful bokeh. The sharpness I have achieved with this lens is fantastic, with precise crystal details and high contrast.

The build quality of the lens is excellent as well. The materials feel reliable and robust, while the lens’s compact size will be acceptable to most users.

  • Fast focusing
  • Buttery bokeh
  • Outstanding image quality

  • Bulky lens

Best Macro Lens For Macro Photography

Best Macro
Panasonic 45mm f/2.8 Lens

In terms of technology advancing, it is wise to say that the inner focus motor system makes action smooth and silent when capturing still and video content.

Panasonic 45mm f/2.8 has a focal length of 45 mm, which is equivalent to 90 mm on a 35mm film camera. The lens mechanism uses both an aspherical lens and an ED lens comprised of fourteen lenses arranged in ten groups.

In terms of technology advancing, it is wise to say that the inner focus motor system makes action smooth and silent when capturing still and video content. I particularly like that the minimum focus distance can instantly be changed to 150 mm or 500 mm.

The lens will focus on 1:1 magnification (life-size) directly without an extension tube. All of the images I took with this lens were, as expected, razor-sharp. Picture quality is consistent throughout all f-stops, from f/2.8 to f/11.

Unfortunately, there is a slight deterioration at f/16 to f/22 due to diffraction, but still good. The vignette issues are barely noticeable, and the color fringing is mild at most apertures.

Those are the minor details that lots of users will not mind. Since I love to test macro lenses as portrait lenses, I must say that bokeh effects were extraordinarily sound.

The whole auto-focus system is responsive and fast under almost any lighting. So, in conclusion, when I count on all of the factors, I highly recommend this lens for a purchase.

  • Solid build
  • Accurate focusing
  • Excellent sharpness

  • Noticeable vignetting when used wide open
