I am yet to notice any vignetting or distortion, even at 400mm. The zooming ring is solid, yet it is too tight for my taste (maybe it goes a little more smooth with time). I was even happy with the bokeh effect, although it is not comparable to fast primes.

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM is built with 21 elements in 15 groups, with nine rounded diaphragm blades. It offers an angle of view of 24.4° to 6.2° and a close-up magnification of 0,26x. The first thing you will notice upon getting this lens is its outstanding compactness compared to other lenses in the same category.

All the images I have taken came out neat and sharp, with mesmerizing color transmission and incredible detail. The focus system does a solid job of delivering fast and accurate responses. I didn’t have an issue with missing shots, and the sound level is tolerable. Moreover, it works extremely fast when the range is limited.

Certain downsides lie in the dock, which is required to work at maximum capacity, and the limited aperture, which can cause trouble during dim lighting without using OIS. However, the lens is considerably cheaper than the competition, and if your main goal is to shoot action at higher shutter speeds, then the lens is the best choice you can make.

With its 10 elements in 6 groups optical design and rounded 7-blade diaphragm, this macro lens delivers impressive image quality and smooth out-of-focus areas.

It offers a minimum focus distance of 5,12 inches and a macro reproduction ratio of 1:1. The optics in the matter are the actual macro lens, which means that at 1:1, the front element is about an inch away from the subject.

Of course, if you aim to shoot objects that don’t move, it will do a great job, but if you intend to shoot insects, it will require some practice. Another thing that crosses my mind is the need for an external light source since the lens will create shadows which could be problematic under insufficient light.
