Do you want to buy some new Canon RP lenses to boost your performance in 2023?

If so, you are aware that there are not a lot of helpful guides about lenses for this camera.

Therefore, I am glad to show you the best lenses for Canon RP in this article.

best lenses for Canon EOS RP

The camera in the matter comes with a 26.2MP Dual Pixel CMOS sensor, four fps continuous shooting, and 4K/24p options. From a technical and ergonomic perspective, RP is a great camera that comes at an affordable price.

If you are wondering how to improve it, you have come to the right place. I did a thorough test with various Canon RP lenses to those that work the best in providing an incredible photographic experience with this camera.

Best Prime
Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L Lens

Pictures are incredibly sharp even at the widest opening. Canon 50 mm comes with an ultra-silent motor that ensures nice and smooth operation.

Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 is a glorious prime lens with a fixed focal length and high image quality. The minimum focusing distance is 0,40 m, with a 12-pin communication system. The lens is constructed with three aspherical and one UD element, with a control ring for settings directing.

It is sublime, with extraordinary rendering and quite a good contrast; moving on to image quality. This is one of the best lenses I have ever tested in terms of sharpness.

All pictures came out extremely sharp, even at an f/1.2. At f/1.2 and focusing on the closest eye, every image is super quick, and the result is simply stunning. The technical flaw I find with this lens is the lack of optical image stabilization.

I couldn’t pinpoint any pictures I took that could benefit from the OIS, so OIS’s lack is more declarative.

The f/1.2 aperture works magic in low-light situations and produces crisp images full of details. If one wants to bring out drawbacks, one of them is weight. The lens is bulky and heavy, which may deter some users.

The other negative side is the price. However, you will get one of the best Canon RP lenses on the market for the money you give, so I would call it a bargain.

  • Good contrast
  • Sharp pictures
  • Super quick focusing

  • Bulky and heavy

Best Wide-Angle Lens For Landscape Photography

Best Wide-Angle
Canon RF 15-35mm Ff/2.8 Lens

Canon 15-35mm f/2.8L is the most awesome lens for capturing wide-angle pictures. Its f/2.8 aperture will get you sharp images even in low-light situations.

Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 represents a high-quality lens that produces bright images while retaining sharpness at the maximum opening. The lens has an optical image stabilization of up to five stops of shake correction.

The minimum focusing distance sets at 0,28 m, and the lens comes with a control ring for natural settings changes. I used this lens for the night and was able to get excellent group shots and performance shots.

It has a fast zoom, and the lens operates in silence, making it an excellent choice for video recordings. When talking about videos, optical image stabilization comes in handy when recording, especially regarding moving objects.

The bokeh effect appears beautiful when one isolates the subject from the background.

Images achieved with this lens are top-notch with some distortions at the corners, but that does not surprise me, considering the lens in the matter is ultra-wide. The lens is also quite sharp, even at the maximum opening.

Design-wise, the lens feels plastic, but I don’t object to it since it helps to keep the weight down, and the lens does not give away a cheap feel. I prefer the matte finish that hides fingerprints; this RF provides just that.

  • Fast zoom
  • Beautiful bokeh
  • Top-notch images

  • Some distortions at the corners

Best All-Around Lens For Everyday Photography

Best All-in-one
Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L Lens

The zoom is nice and tight from an ergonomic perspective, so if you point the lens down and do a long exposure, the result will be a focused shot.

Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 is a compact lens offering a constant f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range. The lens represents the first L-series lens with Nano USM, and it is constructed with 18 elements in 14 groups.

The RF model has a control ring that directs setting changes, and it comes with optical image stabilization at up to five stops of shake correction. It also packs a programmable band around the lens to control any function.

I liked the zoom ring that feels tight, so when I pointed the lens to do a long exposure, I got focused shots with no lens creep.

The lens works wonders in dry environments, but it is not the best solution for rain and moisture since the zoom extends and can suck in lots of humidity, which damages the lens. The lens is ultra-sharp throughout the zoom range in picture quality, even at the maximum opening.

The color rendering shows nicely saturated and vivid colors, while the contrast appears quite sharp. The Autofocusing system is high-speed and accurate.

It focused so fast and silent that sometimes I had to check whether it focused. The control ring is superior, as well. It is pretty convenient for controlling the ISO.

  • Zoom ring feels right
  • Ultra-sharp
  • Vivid colors

  • Don’t use it during heavy rain

Best Telephoto Lens For Wildlife Photography

Best Telephoto
Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens

Canon RF 70-200 mm is a very versatile telephoto lens for Canon R that offers extraordinary performance.

Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 is a high-quality, compact lens with optical image stabilization and up to five shake correction stops.

The minimum focusing distance sets at 0,7 m, with the autofocus operating in silence thanks to dual Nano USM. What I liked about this lens are its size and weight.

The lens, in the matter, is more compact and lighter than the EF counterpart. It makes shooting for extended periods easier, simpler, and more pleasant. Another point I find to be important is the OIS.

With its use, I set the shutter speed at 1/20 of a second, with a focal length of 150 mm, and I still achieved sharp pictures. Generally speaking, image quality is superb with this lens, not just in sharpness but also in color rendering and contrast.

The amount of preserved details are mesmerizing, even when the lens is zoomed out. If you carry it for some detailed street photograph, you won’t necessarily fail the awkwardly large lens test unless you fully extend the barrel and have the enormous lens hood.

The focusing system on this telephoto lens for Canon RP does an incredible job; it is very responsive and accurate, while the zoom ring ensures smooth operations.

  • Sharp images
  • Mesmerizing amount of details
  • Incredible focusing system

  • Filter size

Best Macro Lens For Macro Photography

Best Macro
Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Lens

Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 lens is L-glass quality without the expensive L-glass price tag that comes along. All of the images taken with this lens were razor-sharp

Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 is a compact macro lens with a 0,5x magnification ratio and a minimum focusing distance of 0,17 m. As prominent technical features, the lens offers optical image stabilization and a 12-pin communication system.

As I’ve come to expect from all Canon lenses, and the defocusing was pleasing, I expected color rendition and saturation areas.

The lens produces sharp images at the widest opening, and it gets even better if you use a narrow aperture. Image quality is better than you might expect. Pictures appear perfectly sharp across the frame.

There is noticeable barrel distortion and vignetting at the widest apertures, but it cleans up a lot when stopped around an f/4. A Focus system does a fine job, even in challenging environments, without hunting, with accurate and fast results.

I have tested both autofocus and manual focus. Both are great, but for close macro work, I think the manual focus will be easier to get the perfect image if you have the time.

Image stabilization is a welcome addition, and I find it very useful, especially for shooting short videos. The lens design feels sturdy and reliable, and it doesn’t get better at this price point.

If you are looking for a macro lens for your Canon RP camera, Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 might be the perfect answer.

  • Good color rendering
  • Sharp images
  • The focusing7 system does a great job

  • Vignetting at the widest apertures
