Best Prime
Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 Lens

The lens in the matter is reliable and fast. The design is very pleasing to the eye, especially since this is a small and compact lens.

Fujinon XF 56 mm f/1.2 has seven blades and a focus range of 0,7 m for normal and 0,7 to 3 m in macro mode, while the maximum magnification is 0,09x.

Unfortunately, the lens lacks a weather-resistance feature and optical image stabilization. However, despite these two factors lacking, it is an excellent lens aimed at portrait photographers.

The lens has a nice balanced weight for build quality but is still easy to handhold. The motor is almost silent, and the focus and aperture rings are smooth as silk.

If you want to achieve perfect results, you will have to tweak around the focusing ring, but images will be perfect once you get it right.

I am especially delighted by the small focusing distance, so if you want to achieve incredible results where everything but the very face in the portrait is defocused, this is the lens for you.

Another excellent point is the fantastic sharpness you can achieve with this lens, even at the maximum opening. Images pop out and come alive right from the sensor.

Even though the lens lacks the OIS, I had no problems shooting streets in the dusk or doing portraits inside the house. If you can afford this lens, you will be on the right track to becoming a professional portrait photographer.

  • Compact
  • Beautiful bokeh for lovely portraits
  • Dreamy background
  • Great image quality

  • No optical image stabilization

Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 Lens

One of the most delicate things about the lens is its compact design. On the other hand, the lens is quite heavy, but I am willing to forgive it for the performance it offers.

Fujinon XF 8-16 mm f/2.8 has 20 elements in 13 groups, including three lateral chromatic aberration control elements. The lens is weather-sealed at 11 points and can operate in temperatures as low as -10 degrees.

One of the most delicate things about the lens is its compact design. On the other hand, the lens is quite heavy, but I am willing to forgive it for the performance it offers.

The image quality is excellent, and the lens justifies its price. The pictures I took with it were crystal-clear with sharp and well-preserved details, even at the maximum opening. The bokeh effect is also pretty good, considering the lens is a zoom and not prime category.

Color rendering is beautiful since the colors are distributed evenly and appear vivid and nicely saturated. The contrast is also satisfactory, very high, and sharp.

I am yet to notice any unnatural color-shifting or fringe. I tested the lens for wide-angle and landscape photography, and it offered superior performance.

I took it out at night to capture some night sky photos.

The focusing system is also fast and responsive, with no visible hunting. I had no problems focusing or sharpness, not even in low-light situations.

  • Excellent performance
  • Great image quality
  • Beautiful color rendering

  • Quite heavy

I must praise the design and build quality of this lens. It is made primarily from metal with etched markings and feels rock-solid in hands.

Fujinon XF 18-55 mm f/2.8-4 is constructed of 14 elements in ten groups, including three aspherical and one extra-low dispersion element.

The angle of view is 76.5-29 degrees, with the focusing range at 0,6 m for the whole zoom position, 30 cm for macro, and 40 cm for telephoto. The lens also packs seven blades in a rounded diaphragm opening.

First of all:

I must praise the design and build quality of this lens. It is made primarily from metal with etched markings and feels rock-solid in hands.

The aperture is not written on the ring, but you don’t miss it, as it’s noted on the screen and in the viewfinder. An aperture ring is silky smooth and feels excellent in hands.

The lens has superior light sensitivity and a perfect bokeh effect, which can be compared to prime lenses. Images appear very clear and crisp, with lots of details. However, the sharpest pictures occurred when I stepped down to an f/5.6.

Thanks to its wide opening, I could achieve reliable results, even in low-light situations. The focal length is beneficial since you can capture great macro, comprehensive, and telephoto pictures.

Furthermore, optical stabilization is a great addition; I utilized it a lot during the testing.

  • Premium build quality
  • Perfect bokeh effect
  • Very crisp images

  • Aperture not written on the ring

Best Telephoto Lens for Wildlife Photography

Best Telephoto
Fujifilm XF 50-140mm /2.8 Lens

The lens is resistant to water and dust, and it can operate in low temperatures. The weatherproofing aspect is also very nice aspect.

Fujinon XF 50-140mm f/2.8 has a focusing range of 1 m in the whole zoom position and 1 to 3 m in the full zoom position, with a maximum magnification of 0.12x.

The lens is resistant to water and dust and can operate in low temperatures. The weatherproofing aspect is also very nice for shooting many different landscape situations.

The lens is incredibly sharp to the corners, even when wide open. Pictures from this lens are nicely saturated and have vivid colors. I am especially delighted by the optical image stabilization that allows one to gain even four stops.

I kept the ISO value relatively low, and I still pulled off quite lovely shots due to OIS. I achieved sharp images at 1/15 second and 140mm without trying to be stable.

Bokeh effects are also very eye-pleasing with this lens, although it is not a prime. The lens’s general design is satisfactory, with a nice finishing touch, so it is enjoyable to hold.

It feels smooth when zooming or focusing and is exceptionally well-made. The coating on the front element did an incredible job of beading moisture, and all the weather sealing did the job well.

  • Sharp pictures
  • Vivid colors
  • Eye-pleasing bokeh effects

  • Autofocus can be noisy

Best Macro Lens for Macro Photography

Best Macro
Fujinon XF 60mm f/2.4 lens

The lens is comfortable to hold in hands while still retaining reliability when you closely approach your subject. I was delighted with the camera's sharpness.

Fujinon XF 60 mm f/2.4 macro lens has ten elements in eight groups, including one aspherical and one dispersion element, with an angle of view of 26.6 degrees. It is one of the finest lenses I have tested for macro work.

The focal length maintains an excellent distance from the subjects. The 0.5x maximum magnification is a perfect match for having a reliable lens without compromising the issues by approaching them too close.

The general sharpness this lens achieves is fantastic as well. At the maximum opening, pictures are tack-sharp all across the frame, even at the edges. I am yet to notice distortions or aberrations.

The lens appears to produce sharper images if you stop down, and the increase in details is also noticeable. The focusing system of the lens is incredibly responsive, with virtually no hunting.

I had no issues in low-light situations, and the focus was spot-on, even in relatively dim indoor lighting.

Another great point is well-balanced saturation and color distribution. I love testing macro lenses for amateur portrait work, and I must say that XF 60 mm passed portrait tests with flying colors.

I would call the lens, in a matter, a specialist lens. If you love shooting flowers and small objects, give it a go, and your portfolio will thank you.

  • Excellent sharpness
  • Incredible color distribution
  • Natural colors

  • AF is not great for moving objects
