Although an f/2 aperture doesn’t let so much light in, compared to an f/1.2, it is still considered a fast aperture. Fuji has opened up an entirely new line of “fast” lenses that are lighter, smaller, and more modern in their focusing mechanisms, sacrificing the aperture to do so.

And here’s the thing:

Unless you have a particular need for an f//1.2 because you require a very emphasized background defocusing effect, the f/2.0 versions will easily fit the bill for your shooting.

The color rendering is rock-solid, with a distinctive Fuji look and high contrast. Although a chromatic aberration is present, it tends to dwell in the corners, and I didn’t have a hard time removing it.

I have used the lens frequently handheld, and the lens-based stabilization works very well.

Though most would find image stabilization on wide-angle lenses unnecessary, the old “1/lens length” slowest shutter speed rule suggests a shutter speed range of 1/10 to 1/24 seconds is used for hand-holding; I’ve found it to be true in this case.

Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 is constructed of 14 elements in 10 groups, including three aspherical and one extra-low dispersion element. It has an angle of view of 76.5 – 29 degrees.

The lens has seven blends in a rounded diaphragm opening with a filter size of 58 mm. The focus range is 0.6 m in the whole zoom position, and in macro mode, it ranges from 30 cm to 10 m.

Build quality is fantastic, and the material quality is at least on par with competition lenses, if not better. It feels helpful in the hands, and the distinctive design provides a unique Fuji look. The lower f-stops relative to other lenses are one of its hallmark advantages.

The image quality is outstanding, with good color rendering and high contrast. However, wider apertures are also very. Once you stop down to about an f/5.6, you get a sharp image.

The most significant feature is optical image stabilization, which works wonders for handheld shooting.

The larger maximum aperture helps in low light by allowing a lower ISO and faster shutter speed, but more light reaching the sensor seems to make the AF a little more accurate.

It also has image stabilization that gives you 4.5 f-stops. From an optical perspective, the lens is top-notch, both at the short and long end, wide open, and corners.

It gets better when stopped down a bit, but there are no weak areas, especially at the long end, which is typical for Fujifilm X-T20 lenses of this range.

Optical image stabilization is superb. Shooting handheld at 200 mm with calm breathing and a relatively higher ISO is possible. Of course, you may still get motion blur from the subject moving slowly, but the camera/lens combo takes a steady image.

If you mount a lens on the tripod, the results are fantastic. The lens balances surprisingly well, and the greater weight of this lens vs. the slower competition is not a concern.

It is comfortable to hold for long periods without fatigue and looks solid. Focusing is satisfactory, although it is far from superior.

It is accurate but not so responsive, which is the opposite of DSLR technology. Besides focusing, the lens is outstanding, although it is not the best candidate for sports photography.

Fujinon XF 60mm f/2.4 Macro is constructed with ten elements in eight groups, including one aspherical and one abnormal dispersion element. The lens has an angle of view of 26.6 degrees with a filter size of 39 mm.

The lens, in the matter, hits the sweet spot for a perfect subject distance, and the 0,5 maximum magnification represents the limit of handheld shooting without coming too close to scare the live subject away.

The general image quality is excellent, even at the maximum opening. The sharpness was present corner-to-corner without aberrations or distortions. Thanks to a beautiful bokeh, the lens can also deliver decent portrait performance.

The colors are saturated and memorable, while the contrast is super high. The lens is small, petite, and friendly for everyday operations. It is a macro lens in nature, so it is pretty limited in terms of performance.

It is the lens to go with amateur portrait photography if you intend to shoot flora and small fauna. Autofocus does a solid job with no hunting issues.

Taking pictures using manual focus was difficult, but images resulted in beautiful scenery once focused. Although it is not ideal for shooting fast-moving objects, it does a fine job of steady work.
