  1. The problem with the 28-300, and I had one, is, you shoot with a D8XX for details you won’t get with a lower resolution sensor and the 28-300 just doesn’t give you that. If you only have a D810, I suppose a 28-300 is okay but it’s much better on a D750 or D5. Personally, I’d rather carry the 24-70 + 70-200 and get the details for which I bought a D810.

    • Hi Travis, 28-300 is an all-in-one lens, so you can’t expect two much details from your photos, as the versatility is the main selling point. I do agree that having 24-70 + 70-200 is better then having only 28-300, but for most beginners I think the 28-300 is a great choice as it offers good value for the price, and it is great for beginners to practise on. When I was testing it on the Nikon D810 camera it showed good enough results to include it in this guide. It all depends on what you are looking from a lens.
